Karen LaBonte is a teacher and writer. She currently teaches in the English Education Program of Teachers College, Columbia University, where she is entering the home stretch of her doctoral studies. Before that, she taught and learned in a challenge-based alternative program for high school seniors, where she facilitated backpacking experiences, extensive service projects, career internships, and writing. Lots and lots of writing.
